Get Started

If you're a first-time user, the following is a list of steps intended to help you navigate through the documentation and other areas of the site with the goal being to expedite your understanding of the alakai system.

* Download and install the latest version of alakai. The installation instructions are included with the distribution and are also listed at the bottom of the download page.

* Run the example application.

* Try your hand at writing a simple application and deploying it on alakai. A couple of short 'how to' guides were written to help you set-up your project and and develop your first application. A complete listing of all 'how to' guides can be found here.

* Read the user guide. At a minimum, you should familiarize yourself with the general concepts behind what it is that makes up an EOA System - from both a functional perspective as well as from a structural perspective.

* Then re-visit the example application and map the concepts you've learned from the user guide to the implementation of those concepts within the demo app, i.e. as modeled within the POMs and deployment descriptors.

* You are now officially started :-)

For additional help, the reference section of the site is a great source of information which describes the alakai configuration files and provides a list of pluggable extensions and available features and instructions on how to use them. We're in the process of installing a user forum which would be where you'd post any questions or comments you may have. Until then please direct any requests to support@alakai.org. Have fun.
